Big Bear Lake: A Roarin' Good Time!

Big Bear Lake is, pardon the pun, a roaring good time. Open year round, the activities and attractions are sure to get the kids to stop whining about missing out on Disneyland. If you are looking for a romantic getaway, there are plenty of events and attractions for you, too!

Anyone who lives in California knows that Big Bear is the place to go for skiing or snowboarding. Big Bear boasts 75 trails and seven snowboard parks for varying levels of skill, making it fun even if you've never experienced the thrill of strapping your feet to a board and throwing yourself down a mountain. Lessons are available for all levels.

After a long day on the slopes, you'll want a place to crash. Consider staying at one of Big Bear's luxurious cabins, condos, or resort homes. Not only can you warm up with some hot chocolate in front of a fireplace (and maybe a snuggle or two with that significant other) but you can find amazing lodging deals, significantly cutting the cost of your trip.

Not winter? Big Bear Lake is a great summer getaway. The mountain air is cool and refreshing, and the lake-a balmy 70 degrees during the summer-offers as much water activities as the beach, minus the crowds. The resorts again can offer a great place to crash after a day at the lake, as well as many hiking and biking trails.

Imagine sitting on a beach, cool breeze wafting through your hair, surrounded and shaded by beautiful pine trees-that's Big Bear Lake. A great place to visit is Meadow Park. Located on the lake, it provides a great beach area, picnic tables, beach volleyball nets, barbecue equipment, and more.

For the thrill seekers, Big Bear boasts parasailing, water-skiing, wake-boarding, and wake-board boating. No experience necessary, lessons and rental equipment are readily available, and the locals are friendly and happy to help.

If you're looking for a relaxing or romantic day in the water, a boat rental can be an idyllic getaway. Prices start low, and sailing on the serene blue lake provides a good opportunity to rekindle the romance. If you're on the adventurous side, canoes and kayaks are also available.

Whether it's guy time, alone time, kiddie time, or your wife is really into fish, Big Bear Lake offers multiple fishing opportunities. Rent a little boat and some poles, or get a pontoon boat, where up to 15 people can cruise or fish.

When all is said and done, you'll be hungry. There are plenty of opportunities to eat in Big Bear, from McDonald's to good ol' comfort food. One place that cannot be missed is Evergreen International Steak and Seafood Restaurant. The restaurant combines quality dining with a stunning view of the lake, forest, and mountain.

So, next time you're looking to get away, head to Big Bear Lake--You'll be sure to have a "beary" good time!
