A Big Island Adventure for Every Day of the Week - Big Island, Hawaii Travel Guide - Vacation Rentals by Zonder

A Big Island Adventure for Every Day of the Week

Don't overdo it! That's my gem of advice to travelers. Burnout is the easiest way to ruin a trip. But how do you fit everything in? What do you do?

Don't wake up early. Hawaiians are extremely laid-back people so don't get in a rush. The Big Island is a vast place; it takes time to get to your destinations. Give yourself plenty of time to get there and to enjoy your stay.

Let's say you arrive late afternoon on Sunday in Kailua-Kona. Give yourself ample time to reach your rental house. Taking it easy at first will prepare you for the fun-packed week.

Monday: Let's start your trip with a bang. (You're excited to be here, remember?) How about a snorkeling and whale-watching tour for the morning, a submarine ride in the afternoon, and a dinner cruise to end the day with?

Tuesday: You're feeling a little more comfortable on the Big Island now so let's expand the trip. How about a tour bus that takes you the expanse of the island? This 260-mile excursion will takes you to Volcanoes National Park, the Black Sand beaches, Hamakua Waterfalls and other stunning places.

Wednesday: You're pretty wiped from the bus tour, so we're going to take it easy today. How does relaxing on the beach sound? By the afternoon, you'll be rearing to go again. How about a rafting adventure? Traveling by raft allows an exhilarating view of the coast, sea caves and lava tubes. We'll leave the rest of the day open for your own indulgence.

Thursday: We're ready to go full-speed again. How about we book a one-day flyaway tour to Oahu? This includes round-trip airfare and a professionally guided tour of the Arizona Memorial and the USS Missouri.

Friday: Today is your day to plan. (After all, this is your trip.) The locals are always more than helpful when suggesting what to see and where to go. Oftentimes, the best activities are those recommended by the locals. Tonight, however, is the famous luau. It's a night of great food, fun people and exciting cultural entertainment - the perfect way to end any trip.

Saturday: Time to head home. Despite the laid-back atmosphere, Hawaiian activities required a lot of energy. You're both tired and rejuvenated -  the sign you've had a fulfilling trip.
