You Can't Spell "Destiny" Without Destin

Destin, Florida, nestled comfortably within the picturesque Okaloosa County, is such a delightful place to visit. With glamorous white sand beaches, tranquil emerald-green crystal clear waters, and a plethora of things to see, do, and experience it is no wonder that Destin has gained such popularity!

With well over 4.5 million tourists a year, it certainly must have some draw which keeps luring the travelers--let's start with the fishing. Noticeable is the fact that Destin prides itself on having the largest fishing boat fleet in the whole of Florida. It surely shows that it still prides itself on its original fishing village ancestry.

Destin has a medley of attractions to delight every visitor. Meander over to the Mattie Kelly Art Center at the Okaloosa-Walton College if you delight in viewing well-choreographed dancing productions or exciting Broadway shows. Prefer to watch a lively concert or view an exquisite art exhibition? This is also home to the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra.

Perchance you are interested in the finer things in life? You are? Well I know exactly where you will be in your element: Antiques on the Beach will delight you indeed! This is far from being the typical antique store, which usually harbors dust and the medley of fine china we become accustomed to in most antique stores. Here you will view awesome collectibles from all corners of the globe. Keep your eyes open for the violet and periwinkle building only three miles North off the 331 bridge.

A trip to Destin is not complete without visiting Big Kahuna's Water & Adventure Park. Leave the glorious, though gritty, white sand back at the beach, and give your swimsuit a rest from being bogged down with wet, itchy sand. The water-park sits on well over 25 acres and offers you more than 40 fun-filled water attractions for all the family. Seriously, this is fun with a capital F!

If you wish to give the kids a hands on experience they won't forget in a hurry there is nothing better than taking them on a Southern Star Dolphin Cruise. The Southern Star is a lengthy 76 foot glass bottom boat. It's Destin's little gem,and is the original dolphin cruise boat of Destin. Your cruise will last for two exciting hours in which you will be able to grab both snacks or gifts. The trip is narrated and the kids will certainly love having a go at steering its course, feeding the birds and seeing the amazing sea life.

No Destin vacation is done without experiencing the local dining and, with that in mind, you can't go past The Lucky Snapper. With Destin known to have a medley of restaurants which are listed among the top 20 of Florida, you know your feasting will be more than satisfactory. The food is great and the atmosphere is wonderful. There are many other restaurants which will cater for fine dining, but this is my very favorite. For a more casual option, and if you love rock and roll, visit Howl at the Moon on the Okaloosa Island boardwalk. Watch the dueling rock and roll piano show. This place rocks in more ways than one!

Destin is part of the word destiny--and I think visiting here is yours.  What are you waiting for?
