The Village has a carnival-like atmosphere all year, with special events like live performances by musicians and dance groups, along with activities for kids. But on New Year's Eve, the atmosphere is positively riveting!

Head to the Events Plaza at 6 o'clock, where sizzling live music can be enjoyed all night long. At midnight, a spectacular fireworks display will light up the night sky at Baytown Wharf. The many-colored pyrotechnics will be reflected in the lagoon, so it's really like seeing two fireworks shows at once!

After the new year is rung in, take a starlit stroll on Destin's famous beach. If you have the kids along, be sure to bring a flashlight or two. The children will delight in searching for ghost crabs that scamper across the sand at night.

You can spend New Year's Day scuba diving, fishing, sailing, or playing a round of golf. If shopping is your idea of fun, catch one of the shuttles from the harbor to the nearby outlet malls to take advantage of the unbelievable after-Christmas sales.
