So you are looking to get away. Are you looking for a small town vacation with big Southern hospitality? Come on down to the boyhood home of the former President Bill Clinton. That's right: Hot Springs, Arkansas.
While visiting there are many things to do and see. Start by strolling down historic Central Avenue. The National Park Aquarium is along here so stop in and see some of interesting creatures. Pop on down to the Alligator Farm to get up close and personal with the big teeth wonders. Right on down the road is the Wax Museum. Stop and see some of Hot Springs finest! By then your feet should be tired and in need of pampering. Luckily the Bath House Row is right across the road. Stop and get a massage and dip into the healing warm waters. What a treat for the weary vacationer. Afterwards catch a magic show with Maxwell Blade--He always amazes! If that's not your style catch some tunes with the local bands in town. There are plenty of night clubs to take your mind off of things.
For the family with children it is a must to check out Magic Springs and Crystal Falls theme park. It has rides for children of all ages and a huge water park with a a lazy river. What a blast! There is also two minitature golf courses and go carts in town to thrill the young ones.
For lake lovers and water sport enthusiasts this is a paradise! On Lake Catherine State Park there are boat races during the summer, as well as fishing. Lake Hamilton has parasailing, water skiing, jet skiing, and party barge rentals! Lake Degray and Lake Ouachita has plenty of cabins and water sports, as well as horseback riding and golf courses. They are both about 30 to 45 mintues outside of Hot Springs.
Want to find a hidden treasure? Welcome to Crater of Diamonds State Park. You can go and dig for a diamond and keep what you find. This is the only place in North America that offers this! It is about an hour and a half drive from the National Park. Plan a whole day for this adventure!
For the nature lover there are plenty of bike trails, as well as jogging paths through the picturesque mountains and parks. For the best view take a trip to Hot Sprngs Mountain Tower and get a panormaic shot of the city.
For the food critic try some of the authentic resteraunts in town to tempt the palate. WIth so many, it is hard to choose. La Hacienda and Don Juan's are a couple of local Mexican favorites. For the seafood lover dive into Fisherman's Wharf. There are also several national chain resteraunts to choose from.
Of course a trip to Hot Springs would not be complete without visisting the capital city of Little Rock, which is an hour drive away. Here you can visit Former President Bill Clinton's Presidential Library. There is also the Little Rock Zoo and the historic Rivermarket.
