Most references to Orlando, Florida, conjures images of Walt Disney World and its theme park counterparts. Little do our throngs of tourists know that tucked away in the downtown corridor of Orlando are restaurant, shopping, and entertainment gems, waiting to be unearthed.
The Thornton Park neighborhood is brimming with quaint shops and one of a kind cuisine. Zou Zou boutique on Summerlin Ave. is a lovely shop stocked with designers like Tracy Reese, Ella Moss, and Nanette Lapore: A must see for the stylish vacationer. Antique Row on Orange Ave. between Colonial Dr. and Lake Ivanhoe is another local favorite. This section of Orange Ave. is complete with various antique shops, vintage stores, and cafes, where you are sure to find something special.
Downtown Orlando has a lot to offer in the way of unique dining experiences. Doc's Restaurant, across from Orlando Regional Medical Center is a great spot for lunch or dinner. Manuel's on the 28th, located on the 28th floor of the Bank of America building offers beautiful views of downtown Orlando. The exceptional menu and unique atmosphere makes it ideal for special occasions. Downstairs is Harvey's Bistro, perfect for a business lunch or an intimate dinner with friends.
Though Orlando is known for its theme parks, downtown Orlando packs a punch in the arts and entertainment. Wall Street and Church Street offer a wide selection of clubs and bars, including One-Eyed Jacks and Wall St. Cantina. The Amway Arena is home to the Orlando Magic and also hosts concerts by various artists throughout the year. In addition to the arena, there is the Bob Carr Performing Arts Center, home to visiting Broadway shows, the Orlando Ballet, and the Orlando Philharmonic.
