Disney World in Any Season - Orlando, Florida Travel Guide - Vacation Rentals by Zonder

Disney World in Any Season

Ask any Floridian, "What's your favorite season?"  You may not get the response you were expecting.  There are two seasons in Florida, wet and not wet.  When it comes to the Disney World experience, there are advantages and disadvantages to visiting during both.

May to October is considered the rainy season. Although it may be hot and wet, it's not a bad time to visit Disneyworld. The water parks, such as Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon, will be more satisfying and refreshing, and the pounding, late-afternoon rain is sure to cool you down after a hard day of play. The parks stay open later, which means shorter lines when the "day" crowd retreats.

Some reasons not to be visiting Disney during the rainy season--how about the heat?  The temperature is high, as is the humidity.  The air is thick and heavy.  Sweating is inevitable. In addition, the crowds will be dense.  Maneuvering through the parks may be difficult, especially with a stroller or small children in tow. Finally, the rainy season is also hurricane season. You might not want to take the chance that an afternoon rain storm may be a precursor to something bigger and more destructive.

October to May is the dry season in Orlando Florida.  It's an ideal time to visit. The temperatures are mild and more enjoyable.  You may even need a sweater at night. The prices tend to be more affordable, assuming you aren't visiting during the holidays, and the mass of visitors is easier to steer through.  Less folks mean more space for you.

If you visit during the dry season, you may want to avoid coming on a holiday, especially Christmas and New Year's.  It may seem appealing to witness the Holiday Magic, but it'll be comparable to being stuck in rush hour traffic for twelve hours. The parks close earlier, and if you want to get the most out of your day, you'd better be there when the doors open. Along a similar vein, try not to fixate on seeing it all. With the smaller crowds and shorter lines, you may try to see as many attractions as possible.  You'll end up running yourself ragged, and find not only your feet aching but your entire body.

Wet or dry, anytime is a good time to see Disney World.  Figure out what you want to gain from your experience and weigh the pros and cons.  Either way, you should enter the parks with nothing but fun on your agenda, and don't let anything spoil it!
