To determine how to spend your seven days in Orlando, you should first decide what sort of vacation you want. Orlando, regardless of the season, provides an array of options to create your best vacation. For those who want seven days of thrills and excitement, the amusement parks in the area would provide more than enough attractions. Each of the main Disney parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom and MGM Studios) can easily take an entire day to enjoy everything the parks have to offer. If spending four days at the parks is your idea of fun, I would strongly recommend purchasing the Park Hopper tickets. The tickets allow you to move back and forth from park to park. Patrons can move between Epcot and the Magic Kingdom by bus or by monorail. Buses are also available to move to and from the Animal Kingdom and MGM Studios. In the evenings, the adults can partake of dancing and frivolity on Pleasure Island or the family can wander along the boardwalk of Downtown Disney.
Universal Studios is at least a day's worth of fun and Sea World, depending on the season, can take up another full day. In addition to these major attractions, there are a number of smaller attractions along International drive for any days not taken up by park hopping.
If shopping and leisure is your idea of the perfect vacation, Orlando has a number of outlet malls in addition to the Disney shopping in Downtown Disney. For leisure, the area boasts some excellent resorts and golfing. With pleasant temperatures for most of the year, even the off-peak season will provide plenty of pool time for the snowbird and sun god or goddess alike.
A mix of amusement parks and leisurely pursuits is my family's favorite vacation in Orlando. Our typical seven days begins with checking into the resort and hitting the grocery store. The first night is spent relaxing by the pool and enjoying a light dinner. The next day is devoted to one of the four Disney properties and ends with either Grand Illuminations at Epcot or the parade and fireworks at the Magic Kingdom. Day two is a pool day for Mom and the kids while Dad enjoys fishing in one of the resort lakes. The kids spend time at the resort activity area in the afternoon while Mom hits the outlet malls for a bit of retail therapy. Dinner is either on property or at one of the many restaurants along International Drive. Day three is spent at Sea World. During off-peak season, a Sea World ticket is good for two days so we typically plan on going back to Sea World towards the end of the vacation. Day four is another relaxing day spent exploring Orlando or by the pool. Day five is spent at Animal Kingdom and MGM Studios with dinner at Downtown Disney and shopping along the boardwalk. Day six can be a pool day or a park day depending on the family's energy level. Day seven is check out and pool time before heading home.
No matter how your family defines its vacation time, Orlando should be at the top of your list of destinations!
