Quench Your Thirst for Water Recreation in Sunriver

During the warmer months, Sunriver is a veritable paradise for watersports enthusiasts. Both its natural water playgrounds and its top-notch resorts offer a wide range of activities for those looking to beat to heat. There are activities for all interests and ages of aquatic pleasure seekers. Here is a short "best of" list that is sure to quench your thirst for recreation in the cool Central Oregon H2O.

WHITEWATER RAFTING  Not an activity for the faint of heart, rafting is, nonetheless, a lot less dangerous than some people think. Just let the guides of the numerous rafting agencies around Sunriver lead the way. They offer rafting tours with varying durations and several different rapids locations.

SUNRIVER MARINA  Rent a canoe or kayak and experience the tranquil beauty of one of the calmer stretches of the Deschutes River. If you're hungry, don't miss the opportunity to eat at the Trout House Restaurant, a favorite among visitors, with a killer seafood menu.

TROUT AND BASS FISHING  The waters around Sunriver boast some of the best trout and bass fishing in the Northwest. One popular spot is the Deschutes National Forest, where boating is limited, but fly fishers are welcome.

INDOOR SURFING  Although this is not a traditional sport in the Sunriver region, it is a unique and exhilarating experience. The Mavericks sports facility will help you harness the power of the "Flowrider," a surfing machine that maintains a constant wave sheet!

BELKNAP HOT SPRINGS  These natural springs have been incorporated as part of the larger resort for decades, so you won't have to do any expert hiking to reap the health benefits of bubbling, warm mineral water.

THE PAULINA PLUNGE  Hop on a shuttle in Sunriver village and in 25 minutes you will be at the start of this guided mountain bike/waterfall tour. You will then coast downhill to six different waterfalls and two natural waterslides.  Bike rentals are available, as well as family packages.

SWIMMING POOL COMPLEXES  If you prefer to stay in town, Sunriver has two large swimming complexes on the north and south sides of the village. The one on the south side is a great place for families, since it is larger and boasts a 50 foot water slide. The north side swimming complex is located on a golf course and is usually less crowded. They are both outdoors and so are only open during the summer months.
